Description
This vertically compressed composition reads like a woodcut meditation on concealment: a figure dissolves into ribboned strata, the head wrapped in banded currents that deny direct gaze while amplifying inner turbulence. Olive and bone highlights are carved out of a nocturnal ground, turning negative space into a force that presses against the body and makes the contours feel both protected and besieged. The drooping floral stem becomes a fragile counterpoint—an offering or a burden—its soft collapse echoing the figure’s inward fold, as if tenderness survives only in shadowed margins.
