Bhagwan Rampure

Born in 1962 in Solapur, Maharashtra, Bhagwan Rampure completed his training in sculpture at Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai in 1987. Recipient of several awards from the Art Society of India, Mumbai from 1994 to 2000, he was awarded the ‘Abhang Kalakar Puraskar’ in 1997 and the ‘Gaurav Puraskar’ from Shree Siddhi Vinayak Mandir Trust, Mumbai in 1998. His most prominent work is the 8 ft. ‘Big Bull’ executed in bronze and on display at the Bombay Stock Exchange. Not only has he immortalized Gulzar and Aamir Khan in bronze and fiberglass, they are also major collectors of his works. A 25 ft. ‘Sultan Qaboos Rose’ done by him is on display at Al-Khuwair Roundabout Garden at Muscat and a 13x75 ft Krishna mural is displayed at Datta Devasthan, Ahmednagar. A very popular and well-loved artist in Mumbai with several large scale works in Pune to his credit, Rampure’s works are sought after in Delhi too. He recently completed and installed a life-size sculpture of Mirza Ghalib in New Delhi. He has participated in several solo and group shows till date.
