Born into a carpenter’s family in a small town, Amarnath Sharma completed his M.A.(fine) in painting from M.S. University, Baroda. Later, the artist migrated to Baroda and was inspired by his experiences of living in a small town and then the city. He represents the nature of city life comprising of huge buildings, flyovers as opposed to his life in the small town often reflecting a point of conflict in his works. He plays with many layers of paint in his works and uses images over themwhere he uses it as a metaphor for his experiences. He paints from his personal experiences as his experiences from childhood till the current day blend together. Amarnath Sharma has held solos in Mumbai and Baroda and many group shows in Mumbai, Baroda, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bihar. He was awarded by the Bihar government in 2020. The artist lives and works in Baroda.
