Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469-1539) was the founder and first Guru of Sikhism. He was born in the village of Talwandi, now called Nankana Sahib, near Lahore in present-day Pakistan.

Guru Nanak is revered for his teachings that emphasized the oneness of God, the importance of living an honest and ethical life, and the equality of all human beings regardless of caste, creed, or gender. He rejected rituals and superstitions and advocated for a direct and personal relationship with the Divine.

His teachings are enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred scripture of Sikhism, which is considered the living Guru by Sikhs. Guru Nanak's philosophy continues to inspire millions around the world, promoting values of peace, compassion, and social justice.
