Debabrata Hazra

Born in 1974, Debabrata Hazra is an Indian artist from Kharagpur, West Bengal. He studied art at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, where he received a BFA in Painting in 1997 and subsequently an MFA in 2001. Hazra’s paintings are inspired by his days amidst nature in the wilderness of Kharagpur. His artworks represent a surreal side of the avian world, with warblers, phoenixes and pheasants. He has been a part of numerous group and solo shows, and in 2002, was awarded the ‘Dharan Shah Samman’, from Vichar Manch, Kolkata.
