Ekta Sharma is a contemporary abstract artist whose pointillistic compositions vibrate with energy and movement. In her academic days, she enjoyed producing work inspired by Indian folk art including a narrative of religious motifs and mythical themes but soon found herself drawn to the freedom of abstract expressionism. The artist interprets the symbolism of black as a colour absorbed in itself, thereby creating a world, and hence juxtaposes forms against soft pastel grounds. With the visuals preconceived, she believes that it is the very process of painting that gives birth to significant form.
