Born in 1977, Apurba Karati graduated from Calcutta University and went on to complete his Diploma in Fine art from Birla Academy of Art & Culture. The artist also possesses a certificate in Applied Art from Rabindra Bharati Campus.The artist draws inspiration from the simplicities of everyday life and articulates the same in his own style. Growing up in West Bengal, Apurba tries to capture the cultural ethos of his surrounding while being influenced by Indian miniature painting and folk art of Bengal. The artist tries to create his own unique style that connects traditional modernity and current events. He believes in the quote, “aspiration ends but dreams sustain usâ€. Apurba Karati has participated in many shows in Delhi (at India Habitat Center), Jaipur, West Bengal and Mumbai. The artist lives and works in West Bengal.
