Born in Dhanbad, Arun Mishra grew up with coal mines surrounding him. This explains his perennial attraction to the rural raw beauty of the working female laborers, who while working carried an aura of sensibility, confidence and innocence. The treatment and themes of his works come spontaneously from within him, evoking the sensuality of the female form with just a few brushstrokes.
